Road trips along the coast are truly spectacular. You can enjoy the thrills and the adventure of driving, as well as nice accommodation options and breathtaking landscapes.
The ocean is one of the major attractions, most humans being fascinated by the sound of waves and the feel of the golden sand. Driving from Long Beach to San Diego can be an excellent idea for a road trip. In less than four hours, you can reach the end of your journey, so you'd have plenty of time to relax and have a nice dinner in one of the seashore restaurants. When planning your trip, you should set a few milestones along the way. If you want to take some stunning photos, you can choose to stop for a while at the Griffith Observatory or at the Santa Monica Pier nearby Los Angeles. This could be your first stop on the road, as Los Angeles is less than half an hour away from Long Beach.
It would be too early to have lunch, but you may want to enjoy a coffee and take some photos of the surroundings. The Venice Beach Boardwalk is another cool place to visit, should you feel like spending a little more time in this area.
Laguna Beach is another mandatory stop on your road from Long Beach to San Diego. Here you can enjoy your time and have a nice meal in one of the restaurants in Newport Beach, should you feel the need to eat something. Next, you can keep on driving to La Jolla, and then move on to the last part of your journey, reaching San Diego just in time, before the nightfall. Here you can stay in any of the hotels around, but you can also return back the same day, should you still feel like driving. Nonetheless, this road trip is more exciting by day. Besides, since you've come such a long way, why not relax and wander on the streets of San Diego for a while?
Of course, if you love surfing, you can make a longer stop in Laguna Beach, as this is the surfers' paradise. Whether you want to try it or you simply want to watch others doing it, surfing is a wonderful experience.
Moreover, it could be a great opportunity for some really neat photos, so make sure you have your camera with you. If you want, you can use a trip planner to design your road trip, as this is going to help you save time on the road. It's much better to know from before what you want to see and where you have to stop, so that you can enjoy your ride and forget about your worries and about calculating the time left until the next stop. You'll have everything planned, so you'll be able to allow your mind to rest and your eyes to enjoy the scenery of this beautiful coast.
